Need for Speeds Review of Vertigo Performance Quasi disc
brake:
I received my Quasi CF brake disc this morning. I was
expecting a quality disc with a quality fit. At first look, it
looked slightly thicker than stock...but I am going from
memory as my stock disc was history long ago. I have been
using the t-maxx disc the past few weeks. It is thicker than
the t-maxx disc, but that is worn as well. The dics looks
beefy...that is my point. It appears that it will last a long
time. I dry fitted the disc before sealing the edges with CA
glue. It fit perfect! There is just enough room between the
calipers so there is no drag, but lots of disc! I was very
excited at this point. I glued the edges (appied with a q-tip)
and let it dry until this afternoon.
I took my truck out this afternoon to give it a test drive.
I have to tell you that this is money well spent. Although I
only was able to run about five tanks of fuel...I fully expect
this to be the best value out there for brake upgrades. The VP
disc worked beautiful. I just had a med torque/speed servo
from another truck that I use in the throttle position and
never saw the need to use it. I had plenty of brake...at least
I thought that I had plenty of brake. First time out...I hit
the brakes hard and flipped the darn truck! I have a PCM
receiver/radio and I need to turn the brakes down to control
my breaking now. That is about the best compliment that I can
give it. Pretty simple. It is reasonable, looks great, fits
great...and bonus it works! If it lasts half as long as it
appears it will last, it is the best mod for the money. After
the running this afternoon (five tanks), it looked like
new...and remember that I am testing the brakes (hard,
sustained) braking is all I did. I even tried to overheat the
pad, by draging the calipers! I experienced no fade what so
ever, no visable wear, or any negative feedback to report at
this time. I plan on running the crap out of my Savage the
next week...I'll let you know how it holds up. Next couple of
weeks I have a ton of parts to put in my Savage to get it
ready for Spring (including my 8-port...I can't wait any
longer). Thanks Vertigo Performance.
